Why Is My Furnace Not Heating in Whites Creek?
Direct answer: A furnace that will not heat often fails at ignition, flame sensing or a safety switch, and the error light on the control board is a useful clue. Note whether the furnace tries to start, whether the blower runs, and whether it needs resetting, and do not keep resetting a furnace that smells of gas.
What this usually means
Symptoms rarely arrive alone. Check whether one room or the whole house is affected, whether the problem started suddenly or built up over weeks, and whether a bill, smell or noise changed at the same time. Those three clues narrow the cause faster than any single guess.
What you can check safely
- The filter, and whether it is clogged or overdue
- The thermostat setting, mode and batteries where applicable
- Vents that are closed, blocked by furniture, or covered
- The outdoor unit, and whether it is running, iced or blocked by debris
When to call now
Call now if you have no heat in a cold snap, no cooling in extreme heat, or you smell gas or burning. For gas, leave the house and call from outside. For other problems, note the symptoms above and call during business hours for a same-day visit when you call early.
